I am sure many of you have heard the phrase "It's okay to not be okay." I never truly thought of the meaning of this phrase until these past few months. If you have kept up with my blog from the beginning, then you know about my struggle with depression. This is a daily struggle I have had to deal with since I was a freshman in high school. You will have your highs and your lows. I want to apologize for stopping the blog for several months. I honestly did not realize how many people kept up with it until I stopped and received messages from people. So here I am again! These past several months have been quite a struggle for me, but it is okay. I am a much stronger person because of it. It really is okay if you are not okay. You can do it. Reach out and get help. I can tell you first hand it is not easy, but it is worth it. If you need someone to talk to there are so many resources you can reach out to... Never give up. It is not worth it. As I say to myself, "Hold your head high, and your crown higher." You can do this. Feel free to message me for help and I can direct you in the right place. Sending lots of love. -Jessica
So many people think their past defines who they are as a person and their future, but it does not. Just because you had a rough upbringing does not make you a bad person; how you decide to handle it and who you decide to become will determine that. I found my drive to become a successful, young woman because of my childhood. I have so much determination from my upbringing and it made me who I am, but it does not define who I am as a person or the future that is yet to come. You can either choose to follow in the footsteps of your past or you can learn and grow from it. -Jess
