My Family

I was not sure where to start with this blog, so I decided to start with the family portion because that is very important to me. So here we go. I currently live on campus, but when I don't live here I live at home with my mom and two sisters. My mom is pretty cool, like I can actually say I have a cool mom. She will literally do anything for me. I have two younger sisters Ashley and Rylee. Ashley is 16 years old and goes to Hannibal High School. She is BEAUTIFUL! Like holy cow! I wish I looked like her! She has one of the biggest hearts ever and she's a total goofball. Rylee is 11 and she's a sweetheart. She is so caring and an amazing friend. Her natural talent is definitely art and softball. She colors and draws all the time and I am amazed! She also has played softball ever since she could at our old school and she is quite the player! Now my dad, he lives in Nashville, TN working for a company. He used to work in Quincy, IL, but he traveled to Nashville so much to train their company they offered him a job and he took it. He still continues to travel over the US to train other companies too. It's kind of cool that he lives there, because over the summer we can go visit him in Tennessee. So there's a little bit about my family!

Here's to a new week!

Didn't have the greatest week? That's okay! It's a new week, and it is time to make the best of it! Set your goals and put that smile on your face. You got this.

Your past does not define your future.

So many people think their past defines who they are as a person and their future, but it does not. Just because you had a rough upbringing does not make you a bad person; how you decide to handle it and who you decide to become will determine that. I found my drive to become a successful, young woman because of my childhood. I have so much determination from my upbringing and it made me who I am, but it does not define who I am as a person or the future that is yet to come. You can either choose to follow in the footsteps of your past or you can learn and grow from it. -Jess

It's Okay to Not be Okay.

I am sure many of you have heard the phrase "It's okay to not be okay." I never truly thought of the meaning of this phrase until these past few months. If you have kept up with my blog from the beginning, then you know about my struggle with depression. This is a daily struggle I have had to deal with since I was a freshman in high school. You will have your highs and your lows. I want to apologize for stopping the blog for several months. I honestly did not realize how many people kept up with it until I stopped and received messages from people. So here I am again! These past several months have been quite a struggle for me, but it is okay. I am a much stronger person because of it. It really is okay if you are not okay. You can do it. Reach out and get help. I can tell you first hand it is not easy, but it is   worth it. If you need someone to talk to there are so many resources you can reach out to... Never give up. It is not worth it. As I say to myself, "Hold ...
